Hi Friends,
It's weekend so why not to indulge in some healthy food. I have just prepared Bel (Wood Apple) ka sharbat and going to share it's recipe with you.
This drink is made by mixing Bel with water, sugar and lemon juice.
It is one of the most efficient remedies to beat the scorching summer
heat. But before sharing it's recipe I want to share health benefits of Bel with you .
Benefits Of Bel -
- The pulp of this fruit is rich in vitamin A, vitamin B, dietary fibres and calcium.
- A ripe bel fruit is known to have a laxative effect, it regularizes bowel movements, cures chronic constipation and several gastrointestinal problems.
- Bel fruit juice has healing properties, it forms a layer on the stomach mucosa and heals stomach ulcers.
- Studies shows that bel oil can fight 21 types of bacteria.
- It stengthens the immunity and prevents recurrent colds.
- The fruit extract is widely used in Ayurveda for the treatment of diabetes.
TIME TAKEN - 15 Minutes
SERVING - 5 Glasses
INGREDIENTS
BEL 1 large
Sugar 1/2 Bowl (You can use honey also)
Lemon 4 Tsp (I used Lemon Squash from Patanjali - See Here)
Cumin Seeds 1/2 Tsp
(Roasted and
Grinded)
Rock Salt 1/2 Tsp
METHOD -
1) Break open the bel and take out the pulp with the help of a spoon.
2) Wear gloves and mash the pulp in water .Mash till all pulp scraped out from fruit and only seeds are left. (If Bel is hard soak it in water for an hour and then try to take out the seeds).
3) Squeeze the juice from pulp and discard that pulp side by side.Strain it in a big strainer.
4) After removing the pulp put it in a blender and add sugar, black salt, lemon & cumin powder . Blend it to mix all the ingredients and make it consistent.
5) Now add chilled water and serve cold.
I am having this sharbatright now and it is so yummy and refreshing ..........................
Note - Do not blend it with seeds .Do discard the seeds first. It will taste very bad .
