Green Grams (moong daal) are full of Vitamin A, B, C and E and many minerals, such as calcium, iron and potassium. It is often advised by dieticians to replace fatty foods with Moon dal as it is a weight loss food that is rich in protein and fibre. Along with weight loss, moon dal also benefits the metabolism, immune system and protects against fatal diseases. Generally made from gram flour, we are preparing this Indian recipe with a twist to add flavor and health to it.

Ingredients:
1 cup green gram (moong daal) - soaked overnight
1 cup oats (Optional) - Soaked in 400 ml water
1 medium sized Onion - finely chopped
1 medium sized Onion - finely chopped
Ginger - 1 inch
4 to 5 cloves of garlic
4 to 5 cloves of garlic
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
1/4 tsp red chilli or green chilli according to taste
a pinch of crushed cumin seeds
1 tbsp chopped coriander and curry leaves/each
little oil
1/3 tsp Salt to taste

METHOD -
1) Grind the green gram (soaked overnight) , ginger and garlic.
2) Add salt and asafoetida (hing), chilli powder, coriander and curry leaves, chopped onion, oats (optional, to make it more healthy), cumin seeds and mix together to make a thick batter with even consistency. If it is too thick, add some water.
3) Heat a non-stick tawa and brush it with little oil.
4) Spread your batter evenly over the tawa and drizzle little oil on it and around the edges. Flip it and cook the other side when done.
5) Serve it hot with Green Mint or Coriander Chutney or tomato ketchup.
