I love chocolates but have always heard that they are not good for health. One thing very interesting I came to know few days back is that darker the chocolate the more nutritional it would be. I could never think that chocolate can ever help in lowering blood pressure, control stress and anxiety and above all it is good for your cardiovascular health and help prevent cancer. They have neutral or even positive effect on cholesterol level. Dark chocolate also helps to regulate the clotting response in the bloodstream. Believe me it's true. Darker the chocolate (more the content of cocoa in it) greater will be the nutrition and health benefits you are going to get from it. Cocoa powder if taken without fat can offer the same health benefits.

Doctors who recommend chocolate for its antioxidants and bioflavonoids
recommend a square of dark or semi-sweet chocolate a couple of times a
week for optimum benefit. (But you have to balance these extra calories by eating less of other things.)
Note - Research indicates that "Milk may interfere with the absorption of
antioxidants from chocolate... and may therefore negate the potential
health benefits that can be derived from eating moderate amounts of dark
chocolate."
The question arises HOW DARK CHOCOLATES ARE HEALTHY?
Studies shows that 1.4 ounce (i.e approx 39.6 g) of dark chocolate can lower the hormone levels that causes emotional stress and anxiety in the body. Flavanol, an antioxidant in cocoa bean can lower blood pressure and has cardiovascular benefits.
Dark chocolate does not contain milk solid so they are little bitter in taste and has more pronounced chocolate flavor. But they are also available in different flavors.
REMEMBER -
DARKER IS BETTER (The higher the percentage of cocoa in the bar ( 70% or more) ; higher the nutritional benefit you will receive ) .
Balance The Calories . Don't replace healthy foods with dark chocolate but yes replace your dessert with it. If you are planning to take milk chocolate, Sweet chocolate or truffle , replace it with dark chocolate.
So from now onwards, I am going to start gifting dark chocolate to see my loved ones healthy and happy. What about YOU?
