According to the research published in the journal PLOS ONE, the study conducted by researchers at the University of Copenhagen is that physical exercise may help the brain to consolidate and store physical or motor memories.

Volunteers performed a computer motor skill test in which they have to watch a red line squiggle across the screen and had to use the controller to trace the same line with a white cursor. Their aim was to remain as close to the red squiggle as possible, a task that required input from both the muscles and the mind.

For this they have divided volunteers in three groupsThe first group was asked to ride a bicycle for fifteen minutes at an intense but non exhausting pace before going for computer motor skill test. Second group asked to do the same after completing the test on the computer and third group didn't exercised at all.  All of the volunteers then repeated the follow-that-squiggle test after an hour, a day and a week, to see how well they’d learned and remembered that particular skill. The result was quite noticeable.

RESULT AFTER AN HOUR -Speed and accuracy of squiggle shadowing were almost identical, although the group that had ridden the bicycle after the first computer practice session was a bit less accurate.

RESULT AFTER A WEEK - The volunteers who worked out just after the motor skill learning performed noticeably better and remembered the task and traced the line on the computer more accurate and fast.  The volunteers who exercised before learning the motor skill were not quite as adept now but performed better than the third group who didn't exercise at all.

The “timing of the exercise is critical,” Dr. Roig says. To make your exercise most effective, it needs to be performed “right after exposure to the information to be remembered.”

So if you have just perfected any move in any kind of game or activity like badminton, tennis, dance or even typing on the computer etc. go for a run immediately afterward, and your body may later better remember.  If you want your child to remember the moves in particular pattern let him play after learning the skill.
