Eyes are the most delicate part of the body and very less we care to keep them healthy.  To keep them healthy follow some simple tips given below and see your best -

See Your Eye Care Professional To Get A Regular Checkup - Sometimes we even don't know that we can see better with glasses or contact lenses.  Visit your eye care specialist regularly to get your eye checked using dilated eye exam.  This exams helps in detecting the changes and signs of any damage and diseases at an early stage.  Some diseases like glaucoma, diabetic eye diseases, age related macular degeneration cannot be detected in an early stage without dilated eye exam.

Know Your Family's Eye Health History -  Tell your doctor if anyone in the family has been diagnosed with any eye disease as many can be hereditary.  It will help you if you are at higher risk of developing some particular disease.

Eat Green and Omega 3 - Eating right is the best way to keep your eye healthy.  Eat fishes (such as salmon, tuna, and halibut) rich in omega-3 fatty acid and load yourself with green leafy vegetables and fruits will keep your eye healthy.

Check Your BMI -  Here is another reason to maintain healthy weight.  Being overweight lead to several other diseases like diabetes which increases the risk of developing eye diseases like diabetic eye disease and glaucoma.   These diseases may contribute to partial or complete vision loss.

Choose The Right Eye Wear -  Choose the right eye wear that can protect your eyes from damaging lights of sun and provide you 99 to 100 percent of UVA and UVB protection ( Read - TIPS TO PROTECT YOUR EYES FROM SUN AND GUIDELINES TO BUY SUNGLASSES).  If you are involved in sports wear the protective eye wear specially  designed for that sport which can shield your eyes from any damage.

Quit Smoking -  Quitting smoking is good for you as well as your family's health.  Yes, it proved.  But now here is another reason to quit smoking.  Smokers are more prone to diseases like age-related macular degeneration, cataract, and optic nerve damage, all of which can lead to blindness.

Follow 20-20-20 Rule To Give Your Eyes A Rest - Working continuously on computer or watching television and focusing on something for quite a long time strains your eyes as you forget to blink sometime.  So follow a 20-20-20 rule.  After focusing on something for 20 minutes look at something 20 feet away from you for 20 seconds.  This will help you in reducing eye strain.

Wash Your Hands Properly Before Applying Contact Lenses -   Wash your hands properly before wearing  and taking out your contact lenses to avoid any infection to your valuable eyes.

Never feel lazy to go to the doctor for regular checkup of your eyes.  This is the only way to keep your vision safe throughout your life.  Changes in the body are obvious, don't be scared of them.  Early diagnosis of any disease or disorder helps the doctors to cure them better.
