Hi Healthies,

Proper attire is required for any kind of activity as it increases the performance whether you are working out in the gym or jogging in the park.  Some people think that it's not worth it and other take it as the wastage of money.  At least in India where people are not much aware about exercise and fitness this is the most ignored area of concern.  To improve your performance in the gym or any kind of sports activities, right active wear is must.  Here we are going to discuss about some fabrics and clothes that are comfortable, stylish and will improve the results of your workout.  When you work out, the temperature of your body increases and your body sweats to keep it cool. So choose light synthetic fabric that will keep the sweat away from your body by transporting it to the outside of your clothes where it evaporates.

COMMON TIP

Cotton is not the best choice as it becomes heavier when it absorbs sweat.  Don’t choose heavy materials.  Light synthetic fabric will keep the sweat away from your body transporting it to the outside of your clothes where it evaporates.  Choose the clothes that allow you full mobility.  Opt for flat locked seams which will prevent chafing (damaging your body due to scraping) and will not damage your body while working out.

TOP

When you work out in the gym your muscle expands and contracts for better form.  Look for the tops made of performance fabric and keep sweat away from your body.  A sleeveless and form-fitting shirt is usually best for weightlifting exercises.  Whether relaxed or fitted, look for stretchable fabric.

BOTTOM

Don’t wear baggy pants as they can get stuck in your exercising equipments, best option for most form of exercises are capris.  Your bottom wear depends upon the type of exercise you do.  If you are cycling wear tighter and fitting shorts that do not hamper your moves.  General exercising and weightlifting in the gym can be done in looser shorts.  Mesh shorts are some comfortable options as they are breathable and does not leave sweat marks.  Your shorts should have enough stretch to allow for any type of exercise.  Prefer lowers that will keep you warm in colder days and wear shorts during summers.  Choose bottoms to inserts to offer support or wear comfortable and supportive underwear with your shorts.

FOOTWEAR

Regular running shoes can be worn for almost any exercise. For squash or basketball, opt for special shoes designed for the pupose.  Sandals or any open toe shoes can be unsafe if you workout around or with heavy weights.  Wear light weight cotton socks with it.  Do not workout bare foot unless your exercise demands it (eg. Yoga).

TIP - Active wear are not always expensive.  Look for discounts on different sites online and you will find some that will suit your budget.  Don't ignore gym attire while working out.

WEAR RIGHT TO IMPROVE YOUR PERFORMANCE
